Yonsei International Summer School

From June to August 2024, I attended a summer semester at Yonsei University in South Korea. As one of the country's most prestigious universities, Yonsei is usually regarded as Korea's second-ranked institution. I've always been familiar with Yonsei due to the influence of my grandfather and father, who are alumni.

Although I decided to study abroad and couldn't attend Yonsei University full-time, I was glad to participate in an international program that allowed me to be part of its academic community. I took two courses: Introduction to Media Studies and Art History. Instead of focusing on my intended chemistry major, I chose these liberal arts courses to expand my knowledge, satisfy my curiosity, and strengthen my interdisciplinary thinking.

I created a self-study guide with a friend I became close with while taking classes together.

The best part about taking this class was that I became friends with Seyeon, who majors in 3D art. She showcased her work at ASYAAF (Asian Students and Young Artists Art Festival) last August. Thanks to her invitation, I could enjoy her artwork as well as a variety of other pieces. Also, exploring several exhibitions with her was unbelievably fun. She taught me to appreciate art and understand an artist's perspective. I still keep in touch with her from time to time. YISS brought an invaluable confidant into my life.

I will cherish my memories at Yonsei for a lifetime. I aspire to keep encountering and welcoming such joyful connections, no matter where I go.
